great ideas don’t emerge fully formed—they evolve through exploration, experimentation and continuous refinement_

Early ideas ranged from a live studio stream to a layout that changed on each visit. We chose to explore an interactive direction that invited visitors to play while expressing the character of the studio. The following iterations show how that direction developed and what we chose to keep, remove and build on.

finding the direction_

We explored plenty of ideas—from a live studio stream to a layout that randomises on each visit. Ultimately, we chose an interactive, accessible approach—playful for visitors and true to the dynamic nature of our practice.

iteration one: ripples_

‍

‍

We began with ASCII art, drawn to its abstract, playful quality. Our aim was to express evolution and transformation in motion. The ripple effect beautifully embodied those ideas but felt overly chaotic.

Rather than adding more, we stripped it back. The next iteration focused on a simpler interaction.

iteration two: mouse trail_

‍

Removing the ripples left a trail of characters following the cursor. The interaction felt clearer and more focused, while keeping the playful quality of the first experiment.

We had a direction worth developing. The next step was to connect it more closely to the studio itself.

iteration three: the studio soundtrack_

‍

‍

Music gave the interaction a more personal connection. The track playing in the studio generates ASCII soundwaves, with its title providing the characters. The soundtrack becomes part of the website’s visual language, connecting what visitors see with what we are listening to.

The site began to reflect something happening within the studio, rather than simply presenting information about it.

a layout that follows the studio_

‍

Modular panels hold the studio information, navigation and updates alongside the interactive canvas. The layout brings these elements together while giving each a distinct place.

The appearance changes with the studio’s day. When we close and the music stops, the homepage shifts from light to dark and the interface changes with it. After-hours messages offer a glimpse of life outside the studio, carrying its personality beyond the working day.

designed to keep evolving_

Each step of this iterative journey challenged us to rethink interactions, identity and authenticity. Inspired by our experimental approach, openness, the sounds of our studio and its continuous movement, we’ve built something genuinely meaningful and uniquely ours.

‍

‍

This is a working expression of the studio, not a fixed endpoint. The site is alive. As our practice develops and our experiments continue, so will the website.
